MoCourtNYC is a mobile-first legal technology platform designed to make navigating New York’s court system easier, more accessible, and more understandable. The platform is being developed to help users manage court dates, track cases, access court information, complete or prepare filings, receive alerts, check in for court or supervision, organize documents, locate resources, and use AI-assisted guidance to better understand court processes. It is focused on improving access, transparency, efficiency, and user experience across Family, Criminal, Civil, Supreme, DMV, and other court-related matters.
The platform is designed for everyday people who interact with the court system, especially individuals who may be self-represented, confused by court procedures, or struggling to keep track of cases, deadlines, documents, and appearances. Potential users include parents in Family Court, defendants and respondents, civil litigants, motorists, people under supervision, attorneys, legal service providers, community organizations, advocacy groups, and government or court agencies interested in improving access to justice and modernizing court services.

What makes MoCourtNYC different is that it was designed from the perspective of an actual court user, not simply from a technology or legal-services perspective. Many existing court websites and legal platforms focus on one specific function, such as searching a case, locating a courthouse, finding an attorney, or accessing forms. MoCourtNYC is being designed as a single mobile-first ecosystem where users can manage multiple parts of their court experience in one place. The platform combines case information, court dates, filings, alerts, document organization, check-ins, resources, and AI-assisted guidance through MCNYai. The goal is to reduce the confusion that comes from having to navigate multiple websites, agencies, systems, and physical locations.
mobile-first court management platform is also focused heavily on accessibility and plain-language support. Legal terminology and court procedures can be intimidating for people who do not have an attorney. MCNYai is designed to help users better understand what they are reading, what steps may come next, and how to organize information before appearing in court. Most importantly, MoCourtNYC is built around time, convenience, access, and real-world usability. The platform is intended to serve the person who cannot afford to lose an entire workday, the parent trying to navigate Family Court, the individual representing themselves, or anyone who simply needs a clearer and more organized way to interact with the justice system. MoCourtNYC is not trying to replace the court system. It is being built to make the experience of navigating that system easier, more understandable, and more accessible for the people who depend on it.
“MoCourtNYC was created because access to justice should not depend on how much time, money, or legal knowledge a person has. We already manage nearly every part of our lives from our phones, and I believe navigating the court system should be more accessible, understandable, and efficient as well. My goal is to use technology to help people better understand their cases, stay organized, prepare for court, and access the resources they need without feeling lost in the process. MoCourtNYC is about putting justice, information, and opportunity directly into people’s hands.”
Deryl Springs, Founder & Technology Enhancement Officer of MoCourtNYC, said the platform was born from firsthand experience navigating the court system while trying to maintain employment, pay bills, support a family, and manage everyday responsibilities. Springs realized that for many working people, time can be just as valuable as money. Missing a full day of work for Family Court, Traffic Court, DMV matters, filing petitions, or handling administrative issues can create a real financial hardship. For someone already balancing rent, transportation, food, and other obligations, one missed workday can have a serious impact.
At the same time, nearly every other part of modern life can be managed from a smartphone. That made Springs question why navigating the justice system still often feels so complicated, time-consuming, and dependent on in-person processes. Springs also experienced frustration with existing government websites and account systems. In one instance, after losing access to an old email address and phone number connected to an account, Springs was unable to regain access despite multiple attempts. That experience showed how easily a person can become disconnected from important court information simply because their contact information changes.
MoCourtNYC was created to provide a more user-friendly, mobile-first experience. The vision is to bring court information, case management, document organization, filings, reminders, check-ins, and support resources into one accessible platform. MoCourtNYC also includes MCNYai, an AI-powered assistant designed to explain legal and court terminology in plain language, help users understand procedures, organize information, and better prepare for their court-related responsibilities.
Another motivation was the need to reduce unnecessary courthouse congestion and make routine court interactions more efficient. Not every matter requires a person to spend hours traveling to and waiting inside a courthouse. By allowing appropriate tasks to be handled remotely, technology has the potential to save users time, reduce confusion, improve organization, and create a more efficient experience for both the public and the justice system.
MoCourtNYC has progressed from a personal idea based on firsthand experience navigating New York’s court system into a working mobile-first MVP with a growing public presence. The platform has already received published media coverage highlighting its mission and technology. In October 2025, Insider Weekly published “New York Legal Tech Startup Launches Mobile Platform to Transform Court Access,” covering MoCourtNYC’s vision for centralized mobile court access, AI-assisted filings, virtual court capabilities, alerts, check-ins, accessibility features, and support for self-represented court users. In September 2026, MarketSpy published “A New App Wants to Make New York’s Courts Less Bewildering,” focusing on MoCourtNYC’s mobile-first approach, plain-language court guidance, AI-assisted case support, document organization, case alerts, supervised exchange tools, court locator functions, and the platform’s pursuit of pilot partners, community organizations, and early users.
MoCourtNYC has also developed a functioning MVP, public landing page, official brand identity and trademarked logo, investor and community-facing materials, and a growing outreach strategy. The platform is also preparing for participation in the 2026 UJC Summit at The Shed in Hudson Yards, where attendees will have the opportunity to experience the MoCourtNYC concept and MVP firsthand.
The next major milestones are expanding user testing, securing pilot and community partnerships, increasing public exposure, building relationships with justice-system stakeholders, and moving MoCourtNYC from MVP development toward broader implementation.
MoCourtNYC was created from a simple belief: convenience should not come at the expense of access to justice. If people can manage banking, healthcare, employment, transportation, and communication from their phones, they should also have better digital tools to help them navigate the court system.
